New Nationally-Syndicated Comedy Show for Radio!

I am so excited!  Why? Because I, Daren Streblow, will soon be hosting a nationally-syndicated comedy show on the radio!

It all got started early in 2011 when I received a call from Corey Irish of Media Outfitters.  Corey told me he was interested in starting a nationally-syndicated family-friendly weekly comedy show.  I got so excited I stood up and did the afternoon weather forecast for everyone — which my section of the restaurant failed to appreciate.  Plus I got it wrong, but that’s what made it seem legit.

I was very interested in hosting the show because, as some of you know, I did radio for 10 years.  I was first hired when I was 16 because they said I had the voice of a 40-year-old.  I’m now 40, so where does that put my voice quality? 63? 110? A revived Egyptian mummy?

Anyway, after much prayer, strategy, hard-work, and several top-10 migraine headaches due to equipment issues, I am pleased to announce that at the end of October (timpani…), we begin airing “The Daren Streblow Comedy Show!” Yes, that’s the title we came up with.  Originally it was “Keeping it Mint with the King of Zubaz” but after several meetings, Corey thought it was “too 80′s.” Dang.

Episode 1 will feature the comic genius of Jeff AllenTim Hawkins will perform one of his amazing parodies.  Listen for guest appearances by Leland Klassen, Bob Smiley, John Branyan, and Liz ThompsonDavid Pendleton also will join me across the microphone  (as will be his custom) and this week I will try to get him to explain a voice-mail message he left for me while he was fleeing a tornado.  No, I’m not kidding — you’ve got to hear this voice-mail message to believe it.

The show is a great place to laugh, be encouraged, and put your troubles on the shelf.  Check out the new website for the show at www.darenstreblowcomedyshow.com .  Also, check back here on the Streblog for behind-the-scenes stories and extended interviews that we don’t have time for in the regular program.  I might even post some weather.  Or perhaps attempt the world’s first “Emergency Alert System Test” on a blog.  Innovation, my friends… game-changing innovation.

Here is the press release: Comedian to Host New National Radio Show .

By the grace of God, the adventure begins.  As my friend Liz Thompson would say, “Huzzah!”
